SEL was awarded the Gold Award for the Display of the Year Honor
for IGZO LCD with Sharp at SID* Display Week 2013

Semiconductor Energy Laboratory Co., Ltd. (SEL) was awarded the 2013 Gold Display of the Year Award in The Display Industry Awards (DIA)** with Sharp Corporation (Sharp). This award was presented by the Society for Information Display (SID) that is the only professional organization focused on the display industry. The awarded product is Sharpfs smartphone gAQUOS PHONE ZETA SH-02Eh which includes an LCD using IGZO, oxide semiconductor, that has been jointly developed by SEL and Sharp.

The awarded technology is related to a crystalline oxide semiconductor which is descended from a crystal oxide semiconductor that has been researched by Dr. Noboru Kimizuka (previously belonged to National Institute for Research in Inorganic Materials, currently Kimizuka Institute for Natural Philosophy and University of Sonora, Mexico). SEL has earnestly researched and developed the technology and achieved to produce products having both excellent characteristics and high reliability in collaboration with Sharp.

The 2013 DIAs were presented to the winners at the DIA Awards Ceremony on May 22, 2013 in SID Display Week 2013 at Vancouver, Canada, from May 19 to 24, 2013.
