SEL carries on the philosophy of Dr. Yogorou Kato, the mentor of Founder Yamazaki, and offer educational supports.

Support for schools and children

Centered around Atsugi City, Kanagawa Prefecture, where our headquarters are located, we conduct various activities such as accepting junior high school students for job interviews, holding science experiment for elementary school students, establishing the Atsugi City Education Fund, and founding the "Atsugi Kids Science Award" to award outstanding independent research projects by local elementary and junior high school students. We also donate educational materials and equipment.

We provide the expedition expenses of model rocket teams and robot teams in a school in Kanagawa prefecture, and co-sponsors the Rocket Koshien 2024 Final Competition. We are glad to support students who are interested in science through club activities.

Additionally, we provide educational support donations in Kariya City, Aichi Prefecture, the hometown of Dr. Yogorou Kato.

SEL support children who will inherit the next generation, aiming to enrich the educational environment and develop a sprit of scientific enquiry.

Support for Research Activities

Since 2009, SEL has accepted Swedish graduate students as interns. The program is run in association with Sweden-Japan Foundation for fostering friendship between Japan and Sweden and developing next generation human resources. In 2024, SEL became a supporting member of the United Nations University, and the “Semiconductor Energy Laboratory Scholarship” was established, which contributed to a scholarship for a graduate student at the United Nations University.
